our dear friend, andrea, told us that we need to blog about our climb up mt. fuji - and she is right! this was the most difficult physical feat that i (amy) have accomplished. it was painful and cold and exhilirating and worth it! the pics are somewhat out of order so you can scroll down if you want to go from the beginning to the end. these first pics are of our descent. enjoy!

cell phone reception on fuji!

still smiling at the bottom!

my mountain man!

the path down.

at the top

mt fuji is a dormant volcano that last erupted in 1708. at the top, there is a huge crater, which jonathan still had the energy to go take pictures of. i stayed inside one of the shops to get as warm as possible.

12:30pm: WE MADE IT!!!! 3776 meters. now we just have to climb back down!

these 2 tiny cups of hot chocolate cost almost $10! but we were so cold that it was totally worth it!

almost there!
al

only 3250 meters!
not quite to the top yet...

if you click on this pic, you'll see that we are at 3000m.
the terrain was pretty rocky.
still not at the top... but aren't these guys cute?

more stamps on our sticks!

yes. that is snow!
you've come a long way, baby!
are we there yet? NO!

our climbing buddies!

still not above the tree line and i feel like i'm gonna die!

the very beginning: 0530. 2305 meters.
still a long way to go!
getting our sticks stamped
the views were breathtaking!
